Dre Cali is a Ugandan singer and songwriter whose real name is Stephen Andrew Katende. He is best known for his reggae dancehall songs. He was born on February 23, 1995, in Entebbe, which is in the central part of Uganda. He is the oldest of three sons who were born into a Christian family. Dre Cali is signed to Ykee Benda's Mpaka Records, which is one of the biggest music labels in East Africa.
Dre Cali grew up in a part of Entebbe called Wakiso. In 2007, he finished his basic education at White Angels Primary School. Then, he went to St. Henry's College Kitovu in Masaka, where he got his O' level in 2011. He then went to Mengo Senior School in Bukesa and finished high school there in 2013.
After he finished high school, he went to Uganda Christian University in Mukono. In 2019, he got a Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering there.
Even though he wanted to be a player, the young genius started making music in 2015. Soon after he started his career, he got a record deal with the Mpaka Record company. Dre Cali is a singer who can sing in many different styles, including Afro beats, dancehall, RNB, and reggae.
He became well-known in 2019 after his first song, "Zigi Zaga," a reggae song on the Mpaka label, came out. Since then, he's had a number of successful singles, such as "Onanagiza" with Lydia Jazmine, "Ebisooka n'ebisembayo", "Efikuba", "Singa Omanyi" with Weasel Manizo, and "Akayimba" with Myko Ouma.
Dre Cali has been to a lot of different events in Uganda. In Uganda, he has been up for a number of awards.
He has become one of Uganda's best-known and most-loved names, and he serves as an example for all aspiring musicians, especially young people who want to work in the music business.
