Jose Chameleone shares his journey to stardom

Jose Chameleone's song Mama Mia gained popularity in Kenya but failed to make a similar impact in Uganda due to its unconventional beats, a mix of Kenyan traditional rhythm and dancehall, and the use of broken Kiswahili. Even Bebe Cool and Redsan, who had worked with Chameleone before, refused to join him on the project. However, a DJ friend encouraged Chameleone to perform the song at an event in Kenya, where it was well-received after almost a year since its release. When Chameleone returned to Kampala, he noticed that the song wasn't popular there either. He and his talent manager, Geoffrey Chagga, went to Ange Nior Discotheque, now Club Guvnor, and handed a copy of the song to the DJs, who played it and received positive feedback from the audience. From there, the song gained popularity, and Chameleone's career took off. Today, he is one of the most prominent musicians in Uganda.
